Bachos is a place to explore God, Christianity, doubt, and life through honest questions and respectful conversation. You don’t have to be Christian—or certain of anything—to take part.
We are a Christian community rooted in the Oriental Orthodox tradition, with a special connection to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. We lead with the big questions of Christian faith, while being open about the tradition shaping our answers. We are not a religiously neutral forum or a voice for every Christian church.
Christians of every tradition, Muslims, atheists, people of other faiths, and people still working out what they believe. Sincere questions and respectful criticism belong here. You don’t need to defend your background, disclose your beliefs, or agree with an answer to participate.
Our editorial approach is to explain the Christian perspective, cite sources, and distinguish beliefs shared across Christian traditions from specifically Orthodox teaching. Historical claims and personal reflections should be identified as such. Contributors can be questioned, and no expertise badge makes someone infallible.
Questions about other religions and worldviews are welcome when they help us understand faith. We aim to represent those views fairly, use their own sources where possible, and acknowledge the limits of our knowledge. We don’t claim to speak on behalf of Islam, atheism, or other communities.
We share Christian convictions openly, without requiring conversion or agreement. Moderation focuses on conduct, privacy, spam, and relevance—not whether you share our beliefs. Challenge the idea; respect the person.
Our name draws on Ethiopian Christian tradition’s remembrance of the royal official in Acts 8:26–40. His question about Scripture began a conversation with Philip. That willingness to ask inspires this community: understanding can begin with an honest question.
